Dr. Jessica Swanson, DVM
Dr. Jessica Swanson is a Minnesota native, where she grew up riding horses and competing at a collegiate level. Her veterinary education brought her to Northern California where she graduated from UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 2019. Dr. Jess practiced large animal medicine for several years in the area before broadening her veterinary education - first completing a fellowship in emergency medicine in 2023 followed by additional training in food animal medicine and surgery at Oklahoma State University Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital before returning to the area in 2024. Dr. Jess has a passion for emergency medicine in all species and a special interest in llamas and alpacas. When she’s not in her vet truck she’s probably out running the trails or spoiling her cat.
Amy King, RVT
Amy King was born and raised in beautiful Northern California. An avid animal lover and horseback rider from the start, she grew up riding mountain trails with her sister and participated in the local 4H program. Determined to spend more time on horseback, she decided to go through the horse program at Feather River College in Quincy earning an associates degree in Equine Studies. Upon graduating she elected to expand her overall animal knowledge and graduated from Chico State University with a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science in 2014. She then continued her education, graduating top of her class and earning her associates degree in Veterinary Technology from Carrington College, and started her veterinary career working at the areas largest full service small animal hospital and emergency center. It was here that she fell in love with emergency medicine. In 2018 she ended up combining that interest with her passion for horses and livestock and gained a position assisting in the provision of routine and emergency care here in Grass Valley, where she has remained ever since. When not spending time with our furry friends, she loves to travel, explore, and spend time with her family and children.
